About this site
This site indexes public links to local news and civic information sources. We do not republish articles. We link readers to the original publishers. Metadata such as title, source, URL, and first-seen date may be stored to support local research and historical topic tracking.
What we do
This site is a public research index for local Kamloops news coverage. We:
- Collect links to articles from multiple public sources.
- Group articles that cover the same topic or event.
- Cross-link related topics so context is easier to find.
- Preserve article metadata (title, URL, source, publish date, first-seen date, availability).
- Track when articles disappear or move, so the historical record stays accurate.
What we do not do
We do not republish news articles. We link readers to the original publishers. Excerpts, when shown, are short and intended only to help locate the right article. We do not bypass paywalls or reproduce publisher images without permission.
About the crawler
Our automated crawler identifies itself with the following user agent:
KamloopsTopicTrackerBot/1.0 (+https://kamloopsbc.com/about; contact@kamloopsbc.com)
It respects robots.txt, crawls slowly with delays between requests, caches responses, and skips pages a publisher has blocked. Publishers can disable our indexing for their site at any time — please contact us at the address below.
Removal and corrections
If you are a publisher and would like us to stop indexing your site, or if you have a correction to make to a topic or article record, contact contact@kamloopsbc.com.
Why this exists
Local news coverage scatters across many publishers and disappears over time. This project preserves the public record of that coverage existed, where it appeared, when it appeared, how topics connect, and whether the public links remain available.
